National WEEE Congress<\/strong>, a meeting point where authorities, producers, and collective systems agreed on a key message: public-private collaboration and constructive dialogue among all stakeholders are essential to align goals, improve regulation, and provide legal certainty across the entire value chain. <\/p>\n\n<p>The event was promoted by OfiRAEE\u2019s member SCRAPs with the support of the Xunta de Galicia: ECOTIC, AMBILAMP, Fundaci\u00f3n ECOLUM, Fundaci\u00f3n ECOLEC, European Recycling Platform (ERP), Fundaci\u00f3n Eco-Raee\u2019s, and Recyclia\/Ecopilas.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the opening session, <strong>Andreu Vil\u00e0, General Director of ECOTIC and President of OfiRAEE<\/strong>, highlighted that <em>\u201cthe proper management of waste electrical and electronic equipment is not only a legal obligation but also an opportunity to promote a more conscious consumption model, create jobs, and leave a positive legacy for future ambitious goals<\/h3>\n\n<p>Entre los temas abordados destacaron: The first day of the Congress focused on analysing the new <strong>European Circular Economy legislation<\/strong>, including the upcoming European Circular Economy Act, aimed at strengthening reuse, decarbonisation, and the creation of a single market for secondary raw materials.<br\/>Key topics discussed included:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promoting repair and refurbishment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boosting technological innovation in recycling plants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlighting the importance of public-private cooperation to achieve the EU\u2019s collection and recycling targets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Local momentum for selective collection<\/h3>\n\n<p>At the regional level, the implementation of the fifth waste container in A Coru\u00f1a was highlighted as an important step toward reducing landfill waste and improving source separation.<br\/>In addition, the Galician Government\u2019s WEEE management agreement now includes over 170 municipalities \u2014representing 55% of the total in Galicia\u2014 with the goal of expanding coverage across the entire region. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1030\" height=\"773\"
