Recognising Collective Commitment: 6th Edition of the RAEEimplícate Awards

ECOTIC’s General Manager, Andreu Vilà, delivered the opening speech at the VI edition of the RAEEimplícate awards, held in Seville and organized by FAEL (Federación Andaluza de Electrodomésticos y Otros Equipamientos del Hogar), with the support of RAEE Andalucía, Consejería de Sostenibilidad, Medio Ambiente y Economía Azul, FAMP and the SCRAPs that are part of the Andalusian agreement.

During his address, Vilà highlighted the significance of these awards as a recognition of Andalusian retailers’ commitment to the responsible management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), and emphasized the success of the multi-SCRAP agreement with FAEL, which has been in place for more than twelve years:

“This agreement demonstrates that cooperation —even among competitors— is possible when the shared goal is to protect the environment and improve the sustainability of the sector. Cooperation multiplies results.”

Vilà also underscored the importance of the concept of “coopetition”, a combination of cooperation and competition that perfectly captures the spirit of this partnership:

“We compete in the market, but we collaborate in sustainability. Waste management knows no brands or market shares — it is a shared responsibility that can only be tackled by working together.”

In his speech, Vilà reviewed the achievements reached so far —more than 80.000 tones of WEEE properly managed in Andalucía— and encouraged continued progress in administrative simplification, digitalization, the fight against unfair competition, and the strengthening of public-private collaboration.

The event brought together institutional representatives, companies, waste management operators, and environmental organizations in a ceremony that celebrated the collective effort to promote circular economy and sustainability in Andalusia.
